About Eos Cares

Eos Cares is the social sustainability program of the IK Eos basketball club in Lund.

The program was founded in January 2016, with the following aims:

  • Welcome new societal groups in the club’s community

  • Open up Eoshallen as a center for integration, language training and social establishment

Over time, the scope of the program has evolved, and today has been added an additional aim:

  • Develop methods and solutions for how the sports movement can contribute to societal challenges

Eos Cares activities are currently channeled through three separate methods:

  • Eos Cares” is the original approach, offering a wide range of activities for social inclusion to the general public. Programs involved are the Eos Language Café, Language Tandem Program, Welcome to Lund, Local Discoveries etc.

  • In 2019, the additional method “Prisma” was established, as it was evident that a different approach was required to extensively involve the refugee community in social activites.

  • Since 2020, Eos Cares is also working closely together with the Skåne Basketball Federation’s iniviative “Hemmaplan”, to facilitate the development of a new partner club HSIF Klostergården, which is Hemmaplan’s first establishment in Lund.

Involving more than 2 000 unique participants on a yearly basis, Eos Cares is one of the leading social initiatives within the Swedish sports movement. At the end of 2019, the program received several awards for its efforts.
